Muré – Clos St Landelin
Rouffach, Alsace
http://www.mure.com

Wine Maker: Véronique and Thomas Muré

The Muré range is made up of two distinct categories – one is the very accessible varietals of the Côte-de-Rouffach and Signature varietals and the other is the extraordinary Grand Cru varietals of their monopole Clos Saint Landelin.

The Signature range is a return to the traditional dry and delicately fruity wines with steely acidity. They are wines typified by their freshness and varietal characteristics. These are ideally consumed whilst young and lively.

The Clos St Landelin Grand Cru, is one of the great viticultural sites for the expressiveness and exotic power of Alsace’s noble varieties. This monopole of the Domaine is farmed bio-dynamically allowing the vineyard to produce grapes which are concentrated and rich with beautifully mineral acidities.

The subsoil is made of calcareous sandstone from the Bajocien and calcareous conglomerates from the Oligocene which combine with the region’s naturally long ripening season and the south-facing slope to produce exquisite wines. The wines from the Clos Saint Landelin can be consumed early or over ten to twenty years.

Muré wines are fine and rich with beautifully mineral acidities. This is achieved in the vineyard where Alsace’s naturally long ripening season is enhanced by Muré’s exceptional south-facing slopes.  These are delightful and exciting wines, abundant in flavour, opulence and lacy acidity.

The sensational Grand Cru Muré Monopole the Clos St Landelin is one of the great viticultural sites for the expressiveness and power of Alsace’s most noble varieties and is farmed bio-dynamically; the Clos St Landelin Grand Cru’s are absolutely gorgeous showing mouth filling concentration with mineral finesse.

2011 Riesling, Cote-du-Rouffach
Fresh and fruity with citrus and pear. The palate is direct and bell clear with a back bone of acidity and zesty and dry.
16.5 REVUE DU VIN DE FRANCE

2014 Riesling Signature
Bone dry, with citrus, slate and green apple flavours, spine-tingling acidity and a very long, complex finish.  Just wonderful, this will re-define your expectations of Riesling.

2009 Riesling, Clos St Landelin, Grand Cru Vorbourg
“A juicy white, displaying snappy acidity and ripe pear, mandarin orange, quince and pastry flavors. Light-weight and elegant, with fine balance and a lip-smacking finish. Drink now through 2015” 91, Wine Spectator

2010 Riesling, Clos St Landelin, Grand Cru Vorbourg
“Firm acidity is almost lip-smacking here, but shows lovely integration with the notes of tangerine, passion fruit, fresh quince and smoke, with a minerally salinity and a refined, silky texture. Drink now through 2025.” 93, Wine Spectator

2005 Riesling, Zinnkoepflé, Grand Cru, Vendange Tardives
Pale gold color. At once expressive and delicate on the nose, offering nectarine, peach and spring flowers. Fairly sweet but light; a wine of finesse more than obvious density or size. This lighter, sandstone-based soil gives a more elegant style than Clos St. Landelin, notes Rene Muré. Tastes drier on the end than its 50 grams per liter of r.s. suggest. 91, Tanzer.

2014 Pinot Gris Signature
Fresh, fruity with some honeyed notes the palate is richly fruited, fleshy and pithy with a dry chewy layered textural finish.

2011 Gewurztraminer, Cote-du-Rouffach
Cream, honey, Turkish delight, orange peel, exotic and fresh. The palate is first-class, beautifully crafted with the ripe gently rich and exotic fruit and finely balanced gently sweet finish with appropriate grip. Totally delicious.

2007 Pinot Gris, Clos St Landelin, Grand Cru Vorbourg Selection de Grains Nobles 500ml
“This silky, mouthcoating version is deeply hued, almost a burnished amber, and exhibits lots of tangy acidity to support the lush peach pie, quince paste, smoky minerality, mushroom, cumin and white pepper. A rich and energetic wine, with a long life ahead of it. Drink now through 2030. 97 points.” Wine Spectator

2007 Riesling, Clos St Landelin, Grand Cru Vorbourg Selection de Grains Nobles 500ml
“The elegance of this wine belies the intensity of its racy acidity and well-meshed frame. Offers layers of flavor–from apple and peach pie to smoke and honey to toffee and a hint of beeswax. This is incredibly silky and lightly mouth-coating, and the finish just keeps going. Drink now through 2030. 95 points.” Wine Spectator
