Wine Maker: René Muré

The Muré range is made up of two distinct categories - one is the very accessible varietals of the Côte-de-Rouffach and the other is the extraordinary Grand Cru varietals of their monopole Clos Saint Landelin.

The Côte-de-Rouffach wines are typified by their delicacy, freshness and varietal flavors. These are ideally consumed whilst young and lively.

The Clos St Landelin Grand Cru, is one of the great viticultural sites for the expressiveness and exotic power of Alsace’s noble varieties. This monopole of the Domaine is farmed bio-dynamically allowing the vineyard to produce grapes which are concentrated and rich with beautifully mineral acidities.

The subsoil is made of calcareous sandstone from the Bajocien and calcareous conglomerates from the Oligocene which combine with the region's naturally long ripening season and the south-facing slope to produce exquisite wines. The wines from the Clos Saint Landelin can be consumed early or over ten to twenty years.

Wine Available
2007 Riesling, Cote-du-Rouffach
Fresh and fruity with citrus and pear. The palate is direct and bell clear with a back bone of acidity and zesty and dry.

2007 Riesling, Cote-du-Rouffach - 375ml -

2005 Riesling, Clos St Landelin, Grand Cru Vorbourg
'Pale yellow-gold. Discreet, precise aromas of very ripe fruits, rose petal and minerals. Suave, sappy and complex, with impressive palate presence. Less obviously large than the 'regular' Vorbourg but more vertical and more complex; conveys an impression of fat without weight. Flavors of very ripe citrus fruits, spices and minerals. Quite fine-grained, suave and long, with a note of lemony acidity leaving the mouth refreshed.' 91, Tanzer.

2005 Riesling, Zinnkoepfle, Grand Cru, Vendange Tardives
Pale gold color. At once expressive and delicate on the nose, offering nectarine, peach and spring flowers. Fairly sweet but light; a wine of finesse more than obvious density or size. This lighter, sandstone-based soil gives a more elegant style than Clos St. Landelin, notes Rene Mure. Tastes drier on the end than its 50 grams per liter of r.s. suggest. 91, Tanzer.

2007 Pinot Gris, Cote-du-Rouffach
Fresh, fruity with some honeyed notes the palate is fine but fruity and gently rich with a dry finish.

2007 Pinot Gris, Cote-du-Rouffach - 375ml -

2007 Gewurztraminer, Cote-du-Rouffach
Cream, honey, Turkish delight orange peel, bright and fresh. The palate is first-class beautifully made with the ripe gently rich exotic fruit and fine balanced gently sweet finish. Totally delicious.
