2007 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 'Les Jouises' Wonderful clarity, cherry infused this is pure and direct; a medium-bodied framework with rounded tannins and nicely detailed finish. 2007 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Estournelles St. Jacques' Good ripeness and complexity in this with its lovely berry fruit. The palate is medium-full with rounded mouthfeel and a delicate finish 2007 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Lavaux St. Jacques' Cherry fruit and nice complexity in this with its typically mineral notes. The palate displays original characters in a medium to full frame and finishes beautifully. 2007 Mazi-Chambertin, Grand Cru '(.33 ha of 40+ year old vines). Here the aromas are the most complex in the entire range with a touch of the classic sauvage character along with ample underbrush and warm earth notes along with fresh red pinot fruit that is followed by rich, ripe, round, sappy and relatively powerful middle weight flavors that also possess the best overall phenolic ripeness as well. A solid if not sensational wine that usually represents good value. 90/2014+' Burghound 2004 Ruchottes-Chambertin, Grand Cru 'Good full red. Pure, sappy aromas of red cherry, minerals and sexy oak spices. Supple and round but uncompromisingly dry, with a strong mineral character and lovely inner-mouth aromatic character. A wine of finesse rather than power. Finishes with sneaky persistence and lingering perfume; despite its firm acids and tannins it avoids coming off as aggressive or tough.' 91 points, Tanzer 2007 Ruchottes-Chambertin, Grand Cru 'Good deep red with ruby highlights. Fascinating aromas of raspberry, flowers, iron, smoked meat and earth, plus a whiff of honey. Sweet, pliant and rich, with expressive flavors of black fruits, licorice, violet and smoke. This fat, smooth wine saturates the mouth without giving any impression of weight. Very stylish and aromatic wine. [Even the '06 Ruchottes is open now] notes Esmonin. 92 points.' Tanzer 2004 Chambertin, Grand Cru ''Good full red. Ripe aromas of cherry, raspberry, rose petal and smoked meat, with a floral topnote. Rich, broad and sweet; this is fat with cherry, floral and mineral flavor without being at all weighty. Perhaps less precise and delicate than the Ruchottes but this really coats the mouth. The finishes is long and floral, with very fine tannins.'' 91, Tanzer 2007 Chambertin Clos de Beze, Grand Cru | |||||||||
