Our Producers

Hubert Lignier Père & Fils
Burgundy, Morey-St-Denis

One of Burgundy’s finest addresses has changed its name. Since the untimely death of my good friend Romain Lignier in October 2004, Hubert Lignier’s retirement plans have been dissolved.

Christian Sérafin Père et Fils
Burgundy, Gevrey-Chambertin
https://www.euanmckay.com.au/?page_id=96
The reserved and considered son of a Polish immigrant Christian Sérafin holds a stunning suite of fabulous vineyards which produce intense and structured Cote de Nuits reds which command a fair swathe of new oak. The fruit concentration from low yields and a propensity to harvest late is such that the wines easily handle the oak regime. The Sérafin wines are also structured firmly with appropriately powerful tannin and acid levels and as such are generally best consumed after ten years cellaring.

Frédéric Esmonin
Burgundy, Gevrey-Chambertin

Frédéric Esmonin is based at ‘Les Estournelles’ in Gevrey-Chambertin. Frédéric’s father, André, was the highly respected Gevrey grower who produced the grand cru Mazis-Chambertin for the Hospice de Beaune.

Hudelot-Noëllat
Burgundy, Vougeot

My first experience with Hudelot-Noellat’s was in my retail days in the early 1990s when we introduced them to Australia. I returned in 2005 angling for an allocation which was forthcoming after persisting for four years.

Jean-Jacques Confuron
Burgundy, Premeaux-Prissey
https://www.euanmckay.com.au/?page_id=175
Alain Meunier and his wife Sophie Meunier-Confuron assumed control of this wonderful Domaine from Sophie’s father, Jean-Jacques Confuron in 1988. Belonging to the new generation of Burgundy young guns their philosophy is ‘biologique’, meaning natural viticulture and vinification. Some Growers’ are even using the bio-dynamic lunar calendar for the vines and winery cycle.

Tollot-Beaut & FilsBurgundy, Chorey-Les-Beaune

Everything about this fine Domaine is attractive and immaculate – even the elaborately decorated concrete cuves. The Tollot’s and the Beaut’s have remained together for many generations and have therefore maintained excellent and valuable vineyard holdings.

Thierry Violot-Guillemard
Burgundy, Pommard

Domaine VIOLOT-GUILLEMARD is owned and run by the stocky and super-knowledgeable 53 year old Thierry Violot and his attractive wife Estelle who operates their busy Chambre-d’Hôte. Thierry inherited small parcels of wonderful vineyards planted since 1936. Bottling just 2200 cases each vintage, this quality artisan producer owns a total of five hectares across nine different vineyards which he farms biologically.

This is always one of the great lines-ups of new release white Burgundies I have the pleasure to experience; very stylish, powerful and supremely interesting Meursault’s which are absolutely delicious to boot.

Pierre Morey and Morey Blanc
Burgundy, Meursault

Fifty-eight year old Pierre Morey is one of the great white wine masters of the world. His Domaine originates (1971) from that of his father in 1930, now the Domaine boasts landholdings in Burgundy’s most noble vineyards which he has farmed bio-dynamically since 1997.
